I have had the privilege to work and volunteer with a fair number of NGOs in Israel over the last 20 years. From my experience I can unequivocally say that if you want to contribute to populations in Israel and the Occupied territories that are either transparent to (partially or completely), or are being targeted by, the Israeli government and its associated civil organizations (among them the Jewish National Fund / Karen Kayemet (KKL-JNF)) – the New Israel Fund is THE overall umbrella organization that you are looking for.

Beyond the financial support that NIF provides to many tens of civil organizations, which is vital for them to act effectively, or in some cases to exist at all (for a full list of projects I suggest that you go to NIF’s official website), the NIF also provides advisors, learning programs, and on-the-ground partnership in civil actions and events.

Especially for those of you who feel confused and/or without enough knowledge to decide on contributions (in time or money) to any of the NGOs that focus on particular populations or problems in, or connected to, Israel … the NIF is the perfect solution for you.
